Street Photography
At school I spent a lot of time observing people. I drew caricatures of my teachers and made clay people with no faces (they had their own stories to tell, they didn't need faces). When I was a student in Glasgow a good friend and amateur photographer suggested I try taking photos of people on the street. He gave me a few tips, I bought an SLR camera and some film and went out onto the streets. I was hooked. Glasgow in the 1990s was a great city full of character and characters and I only wish I'd taken more photos, but film and developing was expensive. The digital revolution has made things easier and cheaper, but different. Sometimes I walk the streets with no camera just to look and see what could have been.
